Presidential Election 2008

Saturday, November 08, 2008

This is the first time in my adulthood that I watched CNN everyday, read tons of internet news and RESEARCHED and READ about the candidates. I have voted both republican and democrat in my lifetime. So what did this election mean to me?

It meant HOPE in a future that can and will get better.
It meant CHANGE in the way I look at the world and the way I see things.
It meant JOY in the face of my daughter as she realized her very first vote was important.
It meant TEARS that I shared with my daughter as we watched both the eloquent concession speech given by Senator McCain and the inspiring acceptance speech given by President-Elect Obama.
It meant STANDING UP in a Nation that has been brought to its knees.
It meant FREEDOM for another generation.
It meant HISTORY.

It meant so much more to me that I cannot even find the words. I had to write this, so that I will remember the way I feel now as we face the CHALLENGES of putting a country back together and become as President Elect Obama says, "Not a red state, not a blue state, but the UNITED STATES." I know that it won't be easy and that I won't always agree with the way things are done...but I do have the HOPE that the CHANGES will be the right things we need for our families, our lives and our country and the world.

You put this in such an eloquent way, Klo, and I agree.

Well put Klo. It's been hard to express how important this election was to me and how inspired I am for the future. Thanks for putting it in words.

Wow- that is so beautifully put. I couldn't agree with you more - on every point. I also got a chill when Pres Elect Obama said the red/blue/united states line. I tend to be one of those, "I'll believe it when I see it" types, but I am really very inspired by Obama and have a sense that he'll do everything in is power for positive change in our country.

Hi Klo. Nice words. This was my first time too. I got my citizenship last year and I really lived & enjoy all this election time. I also watched almost every program, at CNN, MSNBC....any time. I taped, reviewed & tried to learn a little bit. I also got bottoms & stickers ... I think election night was something so special & different ... plenty of good & high energy. I'm glad you put your words so I felt free to say something too. Last year we saw Barack here in Aiken SC, I took some pictures..I love that pretty family.

Klo,

Well said -- 3 of my grandchildren just voted for president for their first time, and like you, I have every hope for the future -- for us, and for the world.

I have voted in every presidential election since 1960 and this is the second time I have been able to chose someone I truly wanted to vote for, not just "the least worst choice". The last time was 1960.

How's that CHANGE working out for you????

It's going very well thank you.

Lowest approval rating of any president at this point in their tenure. Not sure if everyone is embracing the CHANGE.

Your a genius with the Pazzle, but try tuning into another outlet besides MSNBC or CNN for your news.

Great Site!

It doesn't change how I felt on election day. I am still hopeful and realize that change does not come quickly or easily. It is unfortunate that we have become a "I want it now" sort of people, because that is what part of the problem is.

I'm just going to keep hoping.
